At The End of The Night

The end of the reception is arguably the best part of a wedding. You're delightfully happy, those drinks have kicked in and maybe you're laughing a little louder than normal, memories have been made, your feet hurt from tearing up the dance floor and now it's time to eat (again). Here are a couple ideas to send your guests off at the end of the big day- I love this DIY bag idea for the candy table!

Warm cookies and cold milk- the perfect combination.

A super cute DIY pie box.

What do you think? Will you send your guests off with a snack and a wave?

Pastels for Spring Weddings

One seasonal trend that will always be in style is pastels for spring. (Cue Devil Wears Prada scene here.) No, it's not earth-shattering, but it won't ruffle any feathers, is classic, and timeless. The soft, whispery colors set the tone for a warm, romantic day, and we love how it's done here with giant balloons and whimsical seat covers. What do you think? Is this your style?

Sprinkles Galore

Is there such a thing as too many sprinkles? You be the judge of this sprinkle cake that is literally covered in sprinkles. It's part of a DIY project that could easily be recreated for a wedding, or a bridal shower. Do colored layers for the inside and you'd have yourself the most colorful cake, both inside and out, ever. So is it a do or a dont? Sprinkles for the win?

A Brunch Wedding

A brunch wedding is probably the best idea I've heard since Friday night weddings. They're less expensive, and the menu items are sure to please. I mean is breakfast not the best meal of the day? Forgo the traditional wedding cake and replace it with a tiered waffle cake- super innovative, surely delicious, and a crowd-pleaser. Opt for a fruit table instead of a candy table, replace snoozy champagne with wake-you-up mimosas and you've got a recipe for a unique reception at your wedding. I do! Do you?

Flower Headpiece Color Pop

(Source)

Words can't even begin to describe our love for this uber-romantic wedding look! The gorgeous flower headpiece and coordinating lipstick make this bride look like a goddess. The bright pink shade helps the bride "pop"-- especially against an otherwise-muted wedding color palette! And what bride doesn't want to pop on her wedding day?? Exactly. File this one under "To Do" for your big day!

Do or Don't: Paper Flowers at Your Wedding

Would you ever consider having paper flowers at your wedding? These little bouquets from West Elm are chic, simple, and surely will not die! I like that they're reusable and would be so pretty for placing around the reception area, or ceremony location. No need for water or shading them from the harsh sun! What are your thoughts? Chic or cheesy?

How to Handle Wedding Day Nightmares

A few days ago, my very good wedding photographer friend told me about a wedding they were shooting where the cake didn't show up! What a nightmare, can you imagine?! But it made me think: at every wedding, there is sure to be something that is off. Whether it's the table linens, or the centerpieces, or the DJ doesn't show- something is bound to happen. As a bride who just wants her day to go smoothly after so much planning and effort, what can be done to ensure everything goes off without a hitch?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, buuuuuut....

There's not much to do. You can plan and prepare all you want, but when all is said and done, it is out of your hands. The best thing to do is surrender. Have someone at your wedding whose sole job it is to make sure things run smoothly and let them deal with anything that goes wrong. You don't need extra stress on your big day, so be it a day-of coordinator, or the wedding person at your resort, or your mother- make sure you have someone who can deal with it.

And then, let it go. Remember that the most important part of the day is getting married to the one you love. It may be hard to envision now, but you'll laugh later at the things that went wrong on your wedding day- we promise!

Signature Drinks at the Wedding

I love when people put a twist on a regular old drink to make it a bit more exciting and unique, and a wedding is the perfect event to showcase your personalities with a delicious signature cocktail. This rhubarb mojito from Not Without Salt  is a perfect example - you take a mojito, which is great by itself, I suppose, but then you upgrade it with rhubarb and voila- you've got a pretty pink drink to please the crowd.

I also think this Audrey drink is probably as delicious as it looks. Featuring hints of hibiscus mixed with tequila and lime, this is the perfect refreshing cocktail for a destination wedding.

Lastly, this strawberry thyme cocktail sounds (and looks) like the most amazing drink. With lemon vodka, strawberry and a touch of lime, this recipe has my mouth watering already!

So what do you think, will you do a signature cocktail at your wedding?

New Rules For Lesbian and Gay Wedding Photography

(Source)

Heterosexual and homosexual weddings have a whole lot in common-- but photography rules ain't one of them! Since gay weddings are a recent phenomenon, most photographers today have no idea what to do with two grooms or two brides! And, in truth, gay and lesbian weddings do pose some unique challenges when it comes to capturing it all in an authentic way: For example, how can you keep two dark suits or two white dresses from blending into each other in a photo? How should couples of the same height pose? Does the butch/male always have to stand in the back of a layered photo?). Really, there are subteties that most photographers have never even thought about. But a new book, Capturing Love: The Art of Lesbian and Gay Wedding Photography, is laying out all of the rules and tricks for photographing gay and lesbian weddings. The book serves as a guide for photographers and couples alike who want to learn how to obtain gorgeous, natural-looking wedding photos. It makes a phenomenal gift for any gay or lesbian couples planning to tie the knot! Find out where to get a copy here.

A Wet Proposal

This guy plans a sweet proposal on a rock in the ocean but then both he and his girlfriend get taken out by a giant wave! I can't believe they didn't lose the ring while being swept away! That's a proposal to remember!
