Easy Messy Bun Updo

Do you ever go out and see women with perfect hair? Yeah, I'm not one of those women.  Doing hair is completely out of my comfort zone. Sometimes I get inspired to try out something new, but even the simplest YouTube hair tutorial leaves my tresses in knots. Even more puzzling, my mom is a hairdresser, so you'd  think I'd know a thing or two about hair, but no. (Hi, Mom!) 

Anyway, in my everlasting quest to find an easy hairdo, I ended up doing this today when I couldn't find a hair tie and had to resort to bobby pins. It turned out nicely, I think, and I thought I'd share in case I'm not the only one who doesn't have a clue about these types of things:

Step 1: Pull any bangs you have out of your face, and secure with a bobby pin.

Step 2: Pull your hair up as if you're going to put it in a ponytail. Hold it with your left hand, while you twist the length tight with your right.

Step 3: Wrap it around and secure the ends of the ponytail underneath the bun with a bobby pin.

Step 4: Secure the left side of the bun with a bobby pin.

Step 5: Secure the front sides with bobby pins.

Step 6: Get back to doing something more in your comfort zone.
